Omega-3 Breakthrough

Brisbane based biotechnology company Nu-Mega Ingredients Pty Limited has developed a way of incorporating most important dietary components of fish oil, Omega-3 DHA, into everyday foods without the need for genetic modification.

Nu-Mega Ingredients,  has developed a technique called microencapsulation for making a powdered form of Omega-3 DHA that is directly sourced from natural tuna oil and results in no changes in the taste or smell of the food.

CEO of Nu-Mega Ingredients Pty Limited, Peter Lancaster, said the raw ingredients were sourced from tuna fish in the Southern Pacific Ocean, and the end product was rigorously tested to ensure it contains no heavy metals such as mercury.
